Third Reich ID Document to Adolf Hitler’s half Brother in Law – Item 99001

Historically interesting German Saxon State Government Ausweis. Issued to Adolf Hitler’s half brother in law, Dr Martin Hammitzsch. brown linen pass with eagle and swastika to front. Photo ID inside showing him wearing his Party badge. Issued in Dresden 7.9.1943. Has his ink signature and in good condition.

 

Note: He took over the management of the Dresden Bauschule in the 1920s and became a member of the NSDAP  in 1935. In the following year he married in second marriage the half-sister OF Adolf Hitler, Angela nee Hitler, verw. Raubal  (1883–1949). In 1937 he sold the House in the Sun to the German Labour Front  and moved to Dresden to Villa Comeniusstrabe 61.  In 1938 he was appointed government director and head of Department VIII (building police, monument preservation) in the Saxon Ministry of the Interior, where he was appointed Ministerial Councillor in 1939. Even before the outbreak of war, he followed the conscription as captain of the reserve in the Wehrmacht, from which he was dismissed in 1943 with the rank of Colonelto take over the management of the technology department of the Saxon state government. After the war, he committed suicide. His body was found on 12 May 1945 in the Oberwiesenthal state forestry district not far from the Czechoslovak border. In the course of denazification in 1948, by decision of the SMAD, his entire assets were confiscated posthumously and transferred to public ownership.
