Note: An Ältestenrat (Council of Elders) armband was a form of identification worn by members of Jewish councils in Nazi-occupied ghettos. Because the phrasing usually included Der Jüdischen Ghetto-Gemeinde, these armbands identified the Jewish municipal leaders forced by the Nazi regime to implement their orders within the ghettos.
