Mussolini Murder Original Photos – Item 115607

4 period photographs documenting the murder by Italian partisans of Mussolini and his girlfriend Clara Petacci . Thee four original snap shots taken in 1945 and still in the brown paper bag that the veteran brought them back home in. Shows them both strung up in the square in Milan. Also close photos of him laid out in his coffin after they were taken down. A unique set of photos of this gruesome event.

Note:  The bodies were taken to Milan and hung upside down in the Piazzale Loreto, a location where fifteen anti-fascist partisans had been executed a year earlier. A mob gathered and vented their rage on the bodies, which were later taken down. The execution was carried out without a trial, and Italian partisans also killed other fascist sympathizers who were with them. The circumstances surrounding the deaths, particularly Petacci’s, have been a subject of continuing controversy.
