German Cross in Gold 1950s version. Identical to the wartime issue with Iron cross to centre and and gilt oakleaves surround with date 1939. Three piece construction with four domed rivets to reverse and slender fixing pin. Retains all its original bluing to starburst outer.

In 1957 the Federal Republic of Germany permitted qualifying veterans to wear many Nazi-era awards in Bundeswehr uniform. including most World War II valor and campaign awards, provided the swastika symbol was removed
