RAF 603 Squadron Spitfire Souvenir – Item 118972

Interesting switch box from Spitfire X4271 from 603 Squadron which was shot down by German Bombers over the River Thames and crashed on to No 14 Hereford Road, Wanstead, East Croydon the Pilot Officer George Gilroy bailed out wounded. An interesting display board produced by a collector with photos of the house after the crash. A picture of the pilot plus his cap badge and the switch box  which was liberated at the time.  Measures 36 x 50 approx. A nice display piece.
