WWII British Home Guard Chatham Issue Mace – Item 116894

WWII British Home Guard issue Chatham Dockyard Battalion mace. Turned wooden handle with chain hanging link and with leather binding for grip. Small plaque marked “31st Dockyard Btn Home Guard Chatham 1940″. In the early formation of the Home Guard there was a shortage of weapons and many battalions converted items as part of their defence equipment. This being an example and styled on the medieval maces for the 1600s. Good overall condition for age. An unusual item of Home guard equipment.
