Reichs Marshall Herman Goring Cigar Box – Item 113956

Scarce wooden cigar box with gilt embossed lid with Goring Family crest to centre.  Retains the remains of one cigar. Made by his favourite brand Gildemann. These boxes were often for use on his personal train and also given out to friends as gifts. Brought back by British veteran.  A chance to own a memento with connections to one of WWII most famous figures.

Goring was Supreme Commander of the Air Force

After the war, Göring was convicted of conspiracy, crimes against peace, war crimes, and rimes against humanity at the Nuremberg Trials in 1946. He requested at trial an execution by firing squad, but was denied; instead he was sentenced to death by hanging. He committed suicide by swallowing cyanide the night before his execution.
