WWI German Gallipoli Star – Item 114865

WWI Turkish made Other Ranks Gallipoli Star. As worn by German and Turkish troops in WWI. Non maker marked. Only now 40% of its red paint finish remaining. Complete with pin back fixing.

The Gallipoli Star as it is known was a Turkish issued medal and was awarded to Turkish and German troops who served with Turkey during WW1 not just at Gallipoli.

The award was issued in two versions, one was the Other Ranks (OR) type that had a painted finish and the other was the Officers enamelled type. The OR type normally is not maker marked however the majority of the Officer enamelled type were made in Germany and were maker marked.  The OR type is the rarer of the two awards.
