Third Reich Afrika Korps Presentation Salver – Item 114087

Interesting alpaka marked salver measuring 17.5cm in diameter. Presented to the family of Hans-levin Barby, 9th Panzer Division. Commemorating the awarding of his Knights Cross for bravery in North Africa. Some age discolouration but good condition for age. Worthy of further research. A interesting Afrkia Korps memento.

Note: On November 30, 1941, he succeeded in repelling the British troops during the attack on Sidi Rezegh, where he stormed at the head of his battalion.

For this, he was awarded the Knight’s Cross of the Iron Cross on December 13, 1941. He was severely wounded near Derna. He died of his wounds in the hospital on May 27, 1942. On that day, he was promoted to colonel.
