Third Reich Pioneer of Labour Decoration – Item 92004

A scarce and seldom found Third Reich Pioneer of Labour breast badge. Gilt/brass/enamel in excellent condition with much original gilt finish remaining. Two rivet fixing mounts to reverse. We believe this particular example to be a jewellers made example and possibly as a later replacement for a lost original with firm unknown.

The Pioneer of Labour decoration was awarded for the highest efforts in the economic and social sphere. Known as the Pioneer of Labour award it was instituted on 7.8.1940. Awards were given twice annually on the occasion of Labour Day and the Party Rally in Nuremberg in late autumn. The first ever one of these awards was awarded on 13.8.1940 to Gustav Krupp Von Bohlen und Halback, Head of the famous munitions firm. On 1.5.1941 only three persons received this award. It is believed that later in the war the awards were made more liberally. The recommendations for this award were by Dr Robert Ley, Head of the German Labour Front.
