Third Reich Kriegsmarine Issue Divers Knife with Provenance – Item 97984

Scarce and seldom found Third Reich Kriegsmarine 1st Pattern Divers knife. Manufactured in heavy duty brass with turned brass grip formed with various ridges for easy grip. Base of grip is brass thread for screwing into scabbard. Cork finisher and polished steel blade. Scabbard made of heavy duty turned brass. Interesting provenance with this knife as follows:

Originally purchased on 20.12.1969 at a cost of £15 and this actual example is photographed in the 1972 publication “Edged Weapons of the Third Reich 1933-1945″., on page 23. It was then credited to Bunting.  Although not stated in his ledger all Bunting’s daggers were purchased from his friend and fellow musician Chris Farlowe. A copy of Bunting’s ledger showing this knife is included in the sale.  Alan Bunting who died in January 2018 after serving with the RAF and working at the BBC later worked with many record companies and this is how he met singer and 1960s military dealer Chris Farlowe.

A scarce knife and hard to find nowadays.
