German Paratroopers Captured British Sun Helmet – Item 79374
Scarce and unusual British sun helmet captured by the 7th German Airborne Division and used by them. Standard British army WWII sun helmet with khaki pugri. Front decorated with shooting star and 7 – being the squadron emblem of the German Airborne Division. Side marked Kreta and what looks like feint date of 1941. Complete with liner but no chinstrap remaining. An interesting captured British helmet having been re-used by airborne forces on the ground probably when serving in Crete. There are a number of period photos showing German troops wearing British tropical equipment when stores etc were overrun. Ex my own collection and found in German flea market in the 1980s. 100% genuine.
