Excellent oil on canvas portrait of the French famous Leader Napoleon Bonaparte. In full uniform wearing Legion of Honour Medal. Contained in later gilt and wood frame. Excellent overall condition. Measures 65 x78 cm overall. Cannot find signature. An impressive painting.

Note: Napoleon Bonaparte, later known by his regnal name Napoleon I, was Emperor of the French from 18 May 1804 until his first abdication in 1814, with a brief restoration during the Hundred Days in 1815.

Unusual WWI French wooden grip and steel cross guard fighting knife. Double edged blade with makers mark SGCU to forte. This particular fighting knife has been used at one time by an American serviceman who has engraved the handle “1918 Verdun & France St Michiel”. Complete with correct pattern steel scabbard and belt hook fixing.

Interesting WWI French early war Other Ranks red top Kepi. Complete with flaming grenade cloth device to front and ide buttons. Original cloth oil skin liner. Good overall condition for age with only minor service wear.

WWI French 1916 dated Machete/Fighting Knife. Turned wooden handle with sharp machete style blade. Shows issue wear. Maker marked and dated 1916. Comes complete with its correct pattern leather frog/scabbard and belt loop. As used by French trench raiding parties in hand to hand fighting. Good condition for age.

Interesting edition of Mein Kampf produced in occupied France and titled “Extraits de Mein Kampf”. Published in Paris during the occupation. Some wear to the soft back cover but generally good.

Vichy French Youth Arm Badge 1940 – Item 117234

Scarce arm patch of the La Jeunesse Francaise circa 1940. Scarce bevo arm patch as worn by the French equivalent of the Hitler Youth. Complete with stud fixings to back for attaching to uniform. A scarce and seldom found piece of insignia. After victory in Europe membership of this organisation was ceased. Good condition and a uniform removed example.

Note: The Chantiers de la jeunesse française (CJF), or French Youth Camps, was a mandatory, paramilitary youth organization in Vichy France from 1940 to 1944. It focused on implementing the “Révolution nationale” through manual labour, physical training, and moral discipline, instilling values of obedience and loyalty to Marshal Pétain to regenerate French youth.
