Consisting of his British Airborne Forces steel helmet complete with harness chin strap. Retains all its original olive drab paint finish and manufacturers stamp to liner. Also a presentation pewter tankard decorated with Pegasus and marked “Presented by the Sergeants Mess, HQ 16th Para BDE. Also a wooden wall shield plaque to the 3rd Parachute Regiment and a captured Chetnics souvenir flag with skull and cross bones. Small rodent hole to top of cap and minor moth nips to wool pile. Cap complete with its period sewn insignia and apple green waffenfarbe (Panzer Grenadier) piping to front. Grey herringbone silk lining to inside. Cord leg ties and complete with all toggles and buckles. Yellow material in good condition. Due to its construction these were named by the Luftwaffe pilots “sausage Mae West”. Open back style introduced in 1943. Excellent example with issue ink stamp to inside. Blue wool construction with enamelled HJ diamond to front and cap tally for the Monte Olivia. Complete with its original ersatz sweatband and black silk lining. A scarce cap to this small marine HJ unit.

Note: During the war, she served as a hospital ship, accommodation ship and finally, evacuation ship during Operation Hannibal. After completing one of her runs from East Prussia to mainland Germany, she was bombed by the Allies on April 3, 1945 and sunk.
